Kiku no Utage (Chrysanthemum Feast) - The Tale of Genji
That autumn, the flowers in the garden of the Empress's palace at Rokujo-in were magnificent. One day, a wild wind, stronger than usual, began to blow fiercely. Yugiri rushed to his father Genji's side to inquire after him, but through a gap accidentally opened by the wind, he caught a glimpse of Murasaki no Ue. Genji dispatched Yugiri to Sanjo-no-Miya, but Yugiri could not forget the beautiful figure of his stepmother. When Yugiri visited Rokujo-in again, his heart fluttered upon seeing Murasaki no Ue's sleeve, but Genji's heart ached, hoping Yugiri would not repeat his own mistakes (Chapter of Nowaki).
*Though wet with dew, I pick and adorn myself with chrysanthemums,
May this autumn, which does not age, last long.*
